Located where the Brenta river flows out of the mountains and into the plain, in 1917-1918 Bassano del Grappa was the most active centre of the resistance to the repeated attacks of the Austrian-Hungarian soldiers trying to burst into the Venetian plain and destroy the Italian army.

Just north of Palladio's famous wooden bridge, on the east bank of the river, stands Ca' Erizzo, an elegant 15th-century structure with subsequent renovations and embellishments. The complex is now home to a historical-literary museum, the Hemingway Museum, and a nature museum, the Wild Life Museum.

The mansion can be visited every second Sunday of the month, while its gardens are open from April until October every third Sunday of the month through scheduled guided tours.

    Wednesday to Sunday: 10.00 - 13.00 and 15.00 - 18.00
    By appointment for groups and schools
    Closed on Mondays, January 1st, Easter Sunday, and December 24th and 25th

  • GUIDED TOURS

    Guided tours of the museum for groups can be given by prior arrangement on opening days, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Also on Mondays and Tuesdays depending on the availability of staff in the museum.
